Alma developed fictitious business GreenrThings as an exercise in creating branding and marketing materials. The business website features a blog and sample informational materials. Additional marketing and packaging materials will be featured here and on the GreenrThings website.-10-101
In advance of the Chad and Jeremy Fall 2016 tour (their final full-length North American tour), the artists requested the compilation an anthology on three CDs and forty-page photo book. Alma reviewed over fifty years of photos in cooperation with noted rock photographer, Gered Mankowitz, artists’ management, family and friends. Alma prepared the complete chronological layout for the book, covers and loose art card for a package featuring over 300 unseen photos.
When designing the visual elements for the CDs, Alma decided to dovetail with the rough era of the songs on each disc: the sixties being represented by the classic look of Ember Records, the eighties by Rocshire Records and the present by the style of their current record label, Electric Paintbox.
This Anthology is limited to 300 copies, Alma’s personal copy may be requested for review at in-person meetings.
This final video which preceded the release of All Good Things includes the full track listing for the three CD set. Of the 76 tracks, only six were previously heard, and even then those were heard on TV appearances, and radio commercials.
The video also features the disc art, which Alma designed to be reminiscent of what labels Chad and Jeremy were signed to during the eras present on each disc.
After the announcement of the All Good Things Book and CD set, many people were eager to hear more about it. Since I was eager to share more details, I made this video to further promote it.
As a note, at this point during the production process, we had not decided to increase the run of the book from 100 to 300.
After Chad and Jeremy decided to compile and release their anthology, Alma designed all of the visuals for the project (more details in the post specifically related to the product’s release). In advance, the following video was released to promote the book and three CD set. The following video was made within After Effects.
As a note, this was a second version of the video as the number of books to be produced was increased to 300 from 100 due to popular demand.
In summer 2016, Chad Stuart’s stepson Owen had to be hospitalized due to pulmonary hypertension. He was placed on the transplant list to receive a double-lung transplant. That transplant came sixty days after he entered the ICU and he is (at the time of this post) still in the hospital recovering from this massive operation.
A group of musicians organized a benefit concert for Owen to take place on July 31 at McCabes Guitar Shop in Santa Monica, CA. Alma attended the show to provide media support for the show as well as thank the artists and management who were involved. The entire show was streamed to Facebook Live (Part 1 and Part 2) and recorded in high definition video. Alma took photos throughout the show.
The post production for this footage needed to be fast, so Alma used mobile versions of Lightroom and Photoshop to process photos. Alma also created several titles within After Effects ahead of time so videos could be edited and published more quickly. Photos are still being posted to LilMarauder Productions’ Instagram page and one is linked below. Video links are coming soon.
Alma completed the Adobe Education trainer course in May 2015, her final project was developing a sound lesson plan and resources which will introduce educators to the process of basic video production and editing.
An “Adobe Education Trainer” is an individual that a) provides training on Adobe tools and solutions to individuals and institutions in the education space and b) who maintains high standards for reach and quality by meeting or exceeding the requirements outlined below.
Based on experimentation during the previous academic year, Alma generated documentation for a new method of inventorying the equipment in the Digital Media Services loan program. By using the category inventory tool within the loan management system, advisors are able to correct errors in equipment names, equipment categories and capture a time-stamped record of the equipment asset tag. The process was faster and generated more actionable data on the over 2,800 items that were inventoried.
Simultaneously, Alma pilot tested the use of the built in help desk ticketing system for broken or missing equipment. This system had not been used to its greatest potential previously, but the DMS permanent staff are eager to use it to streamline the process of assessing equipment, resolving issues and tracking repeated problems.
The combination of all of this additional data will reinforce recommendations for equipment repair or repurchase.-10-101
Alma completed and passed the 2015-2016 Adobe Generation Professional course in Publishing in April 2016.
This five-week course empowers educators to create digital publications in a hands-on, collaborative experience. You will develop your understanding of digital publication design, including design theory and processes you can use in your classroom.
This course counted towards 25 hours of professional development time. During this time Alma created publications in Adobe InDesign, from print projects to online and interactive publications. Best practices for reaching InDesign were also covered as part of this course.-10-101
In March and April 2016, Alma completed a poster which included all of the dates for the Chad and Jeremy tour. She used skills she had developed from her recent Adobe Education Exchange course on InDesign CC.
In the design, many graphical elements were re-worked. The logotype for the group was made in to a more rectangular shape using Illustrator. Several photos were reviewed and adjusted in Photoshop and elements which were adjusted for this poster are going to be incorporated in upcoming marketing materials.-10-101
