LilMarauder.com Website Redesign

Beginning in January 2022, Alma began a complete redesign of LilMarauder.com with a focus on being completely responsive, lightweight, and easy to maintain.

The first step of the updates were a reinvisioned logo and branding. The existing fractured round logo was retained in part, the portion that remains is meant to look shell-like. Adding the path and handle points (as would be seen in vector design programs) is a nod to the many benefits that come with simplicity, including scalability. This is reflective of one of Alma’s philosophies that easy and simple are not sononomous, and that simple is the ideal.

Benefit for Owen Shelly

In summer 2016, Chad Stuart’s stepson Owen had to be hospitalized due to pulmonary hypertension. He was placed on the transplant list to receive a double-lung transplant. That transplant came sixty days after he entered the ICU and he is (at the time of this post) still in the hospital recovering from this massive operation.

A group of musicians organized a benefit concert for Owen to take place on July 31 at McCabes Guitar Shop in Santa Monica, CA. Alma attended the show to provide media support for the show as well as thank the artists and management who were involved. The entire show was streamed to Facebook Live (Part 1 and Part 2) and recorded in high definition video. Alma took photos throughout the show.

The post production for this footage needed to be fast, so Alma used mobile versions of Lightroom and Photoshop to process photos. Alma also created several titles within After Effects ahead of time so videos could be edited and published more quickly. The Bottom Drawer Sessions Website and Graphic Design

Bottom Drawer Sessions No 1

Jeremy Clyde, who Alma does ongoing work with in the context of Chad and Jeremy, approached her in February of 2014 to work collaboratively on the graphic design of his solo album project. After a few rounds of conceptual art based on the name he’d chosen, The Bottom Drawer Sessions, Alma created a simple line art sketch. That sketch became the cornerstone of the entire graphics and marketing package, including album art.

Given the scope of the music project – Jeremy is simultaneously creating in-studio music videos and producing album tracks – Alma began to construct a robust and modern website, capitalizing on responsive design in HTML5 and CSS3 and providing a more immersive experience.

Timelapse with Tilt-Shift Effect

Tilt-shift effect added in Adobe AfterEffects CS6

The Lycee Français de Chicago is opening a new school adjacent to some property Alma has access to. She perched with her Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera up on the 6th floor and shot timelapse video (one frame per two seconds) for the entire groundbreaking ceremony.

Alma added a Tilt-Shift look in Adobe After Effects to enhance the miniature feel that was already present in the footage.

Chad & Jeremy Collaboration

Chad & Jeremy, British Invasion Duo known for their Billboard hits Yesterday’s Gone, Summer Song, Distant Shores, Before and After, and more, reunited in 2004 and have toured since then, also appearing on several television and radio specials and PBS appearances.

Alma joined their team as official photographer and videographer in late 2013, touring with them in 2013 and 2014.

While working in Digital Media Services, under Loyola’s ITS department, there are many opportunities to reach out to students of all majors, faculty in all colleges and staff from all departments. By encouraging the use of digital media and technology, Alma feels that DMS encourages the development of a more well-rounded digital citizen in all members of the Loyola Community.

Always Productions Memorial DVD Slideshows

From 2008 to 2009, Alma worked with two local funeral homes to provide a simple photo restoration and display service for memorial services and funerals. Families who elected to use the service submitted photos in whatever form were available. She put them in to a high resolution digital format, restored photos with damage and created looping DVD slideshows. The DVDs were played on a large TV display in the back of the room. When put in to a computer, all images were available for download in their full-sized digital format.

When one of the funeral directors was celebrating a wedding anniversary, Alma coordinated with his children to make a DVD for their surprise party.

Digital Art 1 and 2 Instructor: Beck Center for the Arts

This was a great experience for Alma because she had to find photography subjects for her students that were inside of the private arts conservatory. They took pictures of their shoes, the light fixtures, condensation on a drinking fountain, and even furniture. They stretched their imaginations to find pleasing composition at odd angles. Alma stretched herself creatively by limiting herself geographically.

Alma promoted, built curriculum for and instructed beginning and intermediate level digital art courses. Constructed curriculum for beginning and intermediate digital art classes (for 8-week and 16-week sessions). Curricula included two projects and many constructive evaluations, as well as discussion topics.
