Vlad and Jeremy Album Joke Poster

Vlad & Jeremy Album PosterAfter working with Rick Jones and Valerie Neale, friends of Chad and Jeremy’s, we began to joke about the (fictional) older, darker music group “Vlad and Jeremy”. Inspired by the album art Rick created, I developed a publicity poster for the album’s resurrection, complete with tracks spun-off from Chad and Jeremy hits. The poster was posted on Chad and Jeremy social media channels in time for Halloween 2014

LilMarauder.com Logo Redesign and Website Launch

The original logo and symbol for LilMarauder Productions played heavily on the “marauder” part of the name. However, increasing client work demanded a move towards a simpler, cleaner symbol which could feature in watermarks. Over the course of a month, Alma developed a new logo that was based on the slightly shattered look of the logo for 6th Floor Studios.

Alma also expanded the LilMarauder website from the few photo galleries it had been to something that provided a little more information about her experience, values and interests. Initially, Alma used a set of HTML5 and CSS3 templates, modifying them and and carving the elements in to chunks to be re-assembled using PHP.

Peter Asher & Chad and Jeremy Media

Peter and Gordon and Chad and Jeremy were the two most prolific British Invasion duos. There were many similarities between them, such that they are still confused to this day. This multimedia show featured memories and songs from the remaining three members of the two duos. Alma shot video of rehersals to guide the show’s development (with a grand total of 150 years in the music industry – there was a lot that was edited out!)

Alma created publicity graphics for this show, title cards to project before each act. She also took publicity photos including an 8×10 to be sold and signed at the shows. Unfortunately, due to scheduling difficulties, there was only a short run of under five performances.

The Bottom Drawer Sessions Album Design Package

The Bottom Drawer Sessions album is clean and organic, featuring handwriting throughout and a hand-drawn chest of drawers. Alma hoped the album would be reminiscent of a diary living with the rest of the miscellanea in the bottom drawer.

Bottom Drawer Sessions Marketing

For the launch of the Bottom Drawer Sessions solo album, Alma designed several pieces of merchandise that could be sold and given away for marketing.

The Bottom Drawer Sessions Website and Graphic Design

Bottom Drawer Sessions No 1

Bottom Drawer Sessions No 1

Jeremy Clyde, who Alma does ongoing work with in the context of Chad and Jeremy, approached her in February of 2014 to work collaboratively on the graphic design of his solo album project. After a few rounds of conceptual art based on the name he’d chosen, The Bottom Drawer Sessions, Alma created a simple line art sketch. That sketch became the cornerstone of the entire graphics and marketing package, including album art.

Given the scope of the music project – Jeremy is simultaneously creating in-studio music videos and producing album tracks – Alma began to construct a robust and modern website, capitalizing on responsive design in HTML5 and CSS3 and providing a more immersive experience.

Digital Media Services Student Advisor Training

In order to train the 30 to 50 students who work within Digital Media Services, the team of five permanent staff use a two-pronged approach with both online and in-person training. The in-person training can only happen once each year based on the needs of the University, but online training is accessible throughout the year, except when it is updated at the end of each summer.

This year, the team of supervisors elected expanded the breadth of the online training (created in Articulate Studio 13) and allow the depth of training to take place in the in-person training days in August and in training activities throughout the semester.

Alma was in charge of adding new information on student services, emergency procedures, as well as a comprehensive picture of where their position impacts the University and its departments as a whole. Alma researched these areas, collaborated with the team on what was worthwhile to include and assembled the information using engagements, videos, narration and quizzes. Alma also scripted, produced and edited a comprehensive set of situational videos and engagements illustrating positive customer service.

During our in person training Alma designed several activities for students to do which tied to the topics that were added to online training. These topics ranged from watching and discussing the FBI Active Shooter video, role playing customer service scenarios, and collaborative communication/storytelling games.

6th Floor Studios Blog

Alma always looks for opportunities to share information, from articles she has read to tips that she’s cultivated. Alma created the 6th Floor Studios to provide an outlet for that expression, with the added intent to gather creative individuals and provide them a similar platform. Showcase and Reading Lists will highlight the work and interests of that team.

iPads and Mobile Computing in Education

This presentation has gone through three incarnations, and each of the three has been a different experience.

There are two programs at Loyola University Chicago that involve iPads or other tablets being issued to students, specifically for course work. All told, Alma has prepared and delivered five such presentations and developed an in-depth online training and support resource for anyone interested in using a tablet or mobile device in their courses.

Atomic Learning Pilot Workgroup – Subject Matter Expert

In an effort to transition from on-ground training and support to online, self-paced training and support, Loyola University Chicago entertained working with several repositories of video tutorials. When it was time to begin a pilot of one service, Atomic Learning, Alma was integrated in to the core workgroup as a Subject Matter Expert on student use of online, video-based software support.

The group was charged with reviewing system strengths and limitations and assessing the impact of those limitations on our planned implementation of the system. Throughout the pilot Alma encouraged the student workers she supervises to use the system for individual enrichment and for the academic support of our clients. At the end of the defined pilot time the group gathered feedback from students, faculty and staff on their use of the online-learning system. After the survey was closed, Alma assessed quantitative response from survey of system users, coded qualitative responses and compiled survey results in an executive summary to guide higher-level leadership in decision to adopt the system.

After the adoption of Atomic Learning, Alma assisted in the development and implementation of comprehensive marketing schema to target students, faculty and staff via print and electronic media, events and organizations.
